Normally during this period, children are prone to get many unwanted problems by following wrong diet pattern to themselves. Sometimes it may lead to serious condition.

Failure to maintain the normal weight:

Failure to maintain normal weight is frequently a recurring problem. During this state, the girls are more prone to get over weight and rather than boys, who are under weight. The degrees of weight or thinness increase with age. Studies on over weight girls have shown that the caloric intake surprisingly, is not as great as that of normal weight girls, however the activity of the overweight girls have been less.

Anemia:

This is the accepted fact in both boys and girls of post menopausal state. For the young woman there is additional loss of iron (0.5 to mg of iron per day) occurs in menstrual blood. For the college girls this problem may be complicated in at least two ways. One is money problem to spend on food and another one is more loss of iron through menstruation.

Anorexia:

A severe form of underweight is occasionally found in young people, due to mental illness. A functional disorder which may cause grave ill-health or even death is called “Anorexia Nervosa”. It may be defined as a loss of the general desire to eat without dividing this desire into its component factors like hunger, appetite and food habit. In this some exciting cause is to become slim or childish method of attracting attention. Following anorexia there will be loss of weight, which may be extreme with physical and mental changes.

Stresses:

Stresses of various kinds may have adverse effect on nutrition. The incidence of tuberculosis is higher in adolescent and early adulthood years. It is believed to occur in those who have had inadequate diet especially with respect to protein and calcium. The stress of pregnancy can have serious effect on girls, who has consumed low protein, calcium and iron during the proceeding years. Stress may worsen the falling of hair due to lack vitamin-B. So taking more milk, grains, fish yogurt and egg will correct it.

Skin Disease:

The quality of diet is determining factor of skin health. Deficiency of one or more vitamins is known to produce cutaneous disorders. Adolescent boys and girls who are prone to a vulgarism are particular to eliminate nutritionally important foods in a vain attempt to correct a skin condition. Beta-carotene, yellow coloured vege and fruits and calcium help to alleviate skin conditions.
Pimples and Acne vulgaris is common in adolescent children due to excessive amount of sweet, chocolate and fatty foods. Plenty of vegetables, fruits and water will cure this and add beauty to the skin. Because the fibers, vitamins and minerals eliminate the toxins that produced during metabolism and water washed it away from the body.

Missing meals is missing important nutrients and restricting food intake results in deficiency of vitamins and minerals.
