It is more prevalent among white collar employees, who are sedentary life style. Those who are work without rest also prone to get constipation. There is no shortcut to cure it. One has to live by nature’s laws. The main causes are,

  • Lack of sleep
  • Sedentary  work
  • Over eating
  • Lack of fibrous food
  • Lack of exercise
  • Use of intoxication
  • Over indulgence in sex
  • Mental tension

Man is created by nature as a vegetarian. Fruits , uncooked  vegetables, and nuts are natural good food for constipation. Artificial foods like fried items, pickles, meat, fish, and egg abet constipation. Combination of foods are equally important. Food along with some items like meat cause putrefaction inevitably induces gas trouble and constipation. Proper balance of work, rest and sleep is essential. Those who are sedentary work should do enough bodily exercise.

Those who suffer from acute constipation should fast for a few days under the supervision of a Nutritionist. He should have complete rest during fasting. After fasting, he may take fruit juice and fruits, before resuming his normal diet.

Break fast:  9.00 a.m. – Only fruits of sweet or sour on alternate days

Lunch:  1.00 a.m. – Raw rice, raw and boiled vegetables, non-fermented curd or butter milk

Dinner:  7.00 a.m. – Chappathi made with wheat bran, raw and boiled vegetables.

( Cooked with coconut milk or oil)

In empty stomach take luke warm water before evacuation. Then continue the normal daily menu with more fibrous food and drink 2- 3 litres of water per day. Take banana after dinner.
